Locking people up and then sending them back out into society
is not working.  For most, jail is a time of anger at the loss of
their freedom.  Followed by (with enough time) contemplation.
That is when the gospel needs to be presented.  They are lost
but listening.  Love is what they will respond to as the Holy Ghost
speaks to their hearts.  We do this because there is nothing as
exhilarating as sharing your faith and imparting hope and
encouragement to those in need.
Do I need to go there to help?
You can make all the difference.
There are many ways you can help the men and women who in
many cases have accepted Jesus Christ for the first time or who
have recommitted their lives to him.  We all have been there,
some people just cant give up control of their lives.

First, you can pray for this ministry. You can ask God to guide,
strengthen, encourage, and bless all those involved in its
activities. You can ask God to bring forth the volunteers and
funds needed for this ministry.  Your payers, finances and our
labor, will bring souls into the Kingdom of God.  That is what we
are all about.

Second, you can become involved personally. Whatever your
talents and spiritual gifts, there is a place for you in this ministry.
In the Reno regional jail and Prison systems, there is a lack of
people who are willing to write letters to our brothers and sisters
behind those walls.  In most cases it is because of the lack of
oversight that causes these programs to fail.  God has strong
Christian leaders in the Reno area who are well versed in the
traps and problems that can arise.  Each letter is screened to
ensure the inmate is not trying to con our volunteers.

The elements of the jail ministry is a group, 60-minute
presentation of the gospel.  The (day after) "one on one" visit,
after they received Jesus in true repentance, (Giving them a
Bible, literature, counseling and prayer) is where the guiding
words of Jesus direct this ministry.

Matthew 13:19 (KJV) When any one heareth the word of the
kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one,
and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he
which received seed by the way side
.

Because of the rotating schedule within the cell blocks, rarely do
we see these individuals again.  The prison is not that way.  The
weekly 90-minute meetings extend into worship, Bible classes,
Christian videos, "one on one" discipleship training, etc.

We have the need for Board of Directors, community awareness,
program structure and administrative tasks. Seek God’s
guidance regarding how He wants you to be involved, and then
follow it.

Third, you can help provide the funds needed for this ministry.
You can give personally as the Lord guides you. You can
encourage your church and other churches to contribute to this
ministry. You can tell your Christian friends about this ministry.

If you have helped us financially, thank you.  These new born
Christians all need Bibles, study guidelines and as much simple
to understand literature as we can get to them.  That is the first
place the funds are placed.  Secondly we support the outreach
programs that help these men and women get back on their
feet after spending a long stretch in jail.  Often times they come
out with nothing and no one.  That is the second place we can
make a difference but it has to be done with wisdom as the
funds are very limited.  The administration/Church does not get
any compensation.  All funds go directly to the jail ministry.
